Partnership for innovation program in Uzbekistan

Tashkent to host a meeting of civil society activists in the Social Innovation Laboratory format.


Tashkent hosted, 13 August 2019, a meeting of representatives of civil society in the Social Innovation Laboratory format within the Partnership for Innovation Program. The event will bring together about 80 activists from all regions of Uzbekistan and Central Asian countries. 

Social Innovation Laboratory is a platform to learn and disseminate innovative methods, tools and approaches enabling to achieve a significant social effect in the activities of NGOs.

The Laboratory participants gained knowledge and skills in the development of innovative projects, discussed the best practices of social innovation and received expert advice on the implementation of project ideas.

The Social Innovation Laboratory Program included an introductory discussion on the theme ‘What Is Innovation?’ During the event, the participants divided into two groups, and mentors of the groups presented their innovations. In particular, the presentation of successful examples from Kazakhstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan is expected. At the end of the day, a presentation hold of project ideas from theme groups in a format of pitch session (short presentation), and which were discussed by other participants and mentors.  

 Following the results of the Laboratory, the participants trained in new solutions, involving the public to solve socially significant issues, and developing modern social initiatives.   

Worth noting is that the two-year Partnership for Innovation Program – P4I in Uzbekistan is being implemented by Yuksalish Nationwide Movement in conjunction with the ARGO Civil Society Development Association, Kazakhstan, with the support of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).
