President notes the need for full compliance with quarantine rules
On May 7, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev chaired a videoconference and paid particular attention to the work being carried out in the country to combat the coronavirus pandemic.
– 90-100 thousand people worldwide get infected with the virus every day. To date, the number of patients has reached almost 4 million. Unfortunately, 265 thousand of them died.
According to the latest data, 2269 cases of infection have been recorded in Uzbekistan to date. 1624 infected, or 72 percent, recovered. Currently, 635 patients are being treated in hospitals. 45 thousand of our citizens who returned from abroad or contacted with patients were quarantined.
Through tremendous efforts, with the support of our people, thanks to their understanding and patience, we manage to contain this pandemic in Uzbekistan. But we still have to be very vigilant and cautious, we must fully comply with the quarantine rules. We have no right to indulge in tranquility until this threat is completely eliminated throughout the world.
Taking into account the stabilization of the epidemiological situation in the country, we gradually began to mitigate the quarantine requirements in order to restart the economy in virus-free regions and provide people with income. At the same time, we also took into account many appeals of the self-isolated population in order to improve living conditions.
In accordance with the instructions given at the last videoconference, the Republican Commission decided that starting May 8, the “green” level is in effect in Navoi, Jizzakh and Kashkadarya regions, where the infection was not detected or the patients had fully recovered; the “yellow” level acts in Surkhandarya, Khorezm regions and the city of Tashkent, where the virus has not been detected within the last 14 days, but patients who are undergoing treatment remain; a “red” quarantine level applies in all other regions where the infection continues to occur.
In addition, depending on the level assigned to the regions, the types of permitted services are clearly defined. Of course, more services will be provided in the green regions, fewer in the yellow ones, and a limited list of services in the red ones.
I repeat, we must never forget that in the world, especially in countries with which we work closely, the pandemic is only gaining momentum and this situation can pose a great threat to us. Therefore, we all need to increase vigilance. In this regard, the restrictions associated with countering the virus should be strictly observed both at enterprises that did not stop their activities at all, and in those spheres where they are allowed to resume work.
I repeat: each of us must strictly adhere to the rules of quarantine, sanitation and hygiene, remember that we are responsible for the health of ourselves, our families and our people.
At the same time, we should take into account that there are districts where no cases of infection were detected in the “yellow” and “red” regions. If tomorrow the disease is detected in any of the “green” regions, there is no need to change the level of the entire region, the President said.
The Republican Commission was tasked with classifying districts and cities according to quarantine levels.
