The synagogue in Bukhara got a list of tourist sites in need of urgent restoration

The World Monuments Fund (WMF) has presented the list of cultural heritage sites, which are in dire need of conservation and restoration activities.

The synagogue in the quarter Makhalli Kuhmo numbering three hundred years history, was closed by the Soviet authorities in 1940. It was only in 1945, at the explicit request of the population, the old synagogue was returned to the Jewish community, which operates to this day.

In total, the World Monuments Fund list of 2020 fell 25 historical and cultural tourist sites from 22 countries.

Among them is also the Cathedral of Notre-Dame de Paris, which was almost destroyed in a fire that occurred at the beginning of this year, the Rapa Nui National Park and National Monument Bear ears in Utah, which was under threat after the US president Donald Trump has decided to cut back on the budget for environmental measures in the area.

World Monuments Fund - a non-profit organization dedicated to the protection of historic architecture and cultural heritage sites around the world. It conducts research, provides legal services, provides grants, organizes educational and training programs.
